Lovetoys was released by MFS on 23 May 2001 as part of the Assorted Compilation Series. The mixed compilation is based on a DJ set by Corvin Dalek at Face Club in Guangzhou, recorded during a tour through Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The set was recorded directly to MiniDisc and later edited in Berlin with Mark Reeder for release.
Alongside productions by a range of artists, the mix includes several direct contributions from Corvin Dalek. The Atheist appears as a Corvin Dalek track, while Pounds&Pénz is included in Oliver Klein’s Wet&Hard Remix. The mix also contains Corvin Dalek remixes of Madrid Inc’s My Sunday’s Love and Tecra’s Dawn Voyeur.
The cover refers directly to the title Lovetoys through its use of sex-toy imagery. The release was banned in Switzerland because of the cover.
