Pounds & Pénz

Pounds & Pénz was released by MFS on 1 May 1999 as a 12″ single by Corvin Dalek. The Geldregen Mix was produced in autumn 1998 at Noel Pix’s studio in Munich, after Dalek had already moved to Berlin. The track was composed and produced by Corvin Dalek, Noel Pix and Alex Flatner.

Nord Lead, DrumStation and Cubase formed the central production setup for the Geldregen Mix. The A-side contains the Geldregen Mix, while the B-side features Alex Flatner’s Deutsche Mark Remix. Both version names refer to the release’s currency theme, which is also continued in the artwork through the use of different banknotes and coins.

Flatner’s Deutsche Mark Remix became the most-played track on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection during this period and appeared in numerous DJ sets. The response to the remix brought Corvin Dalek wider attention beyond his immediate production environment with his first single.
