Crystal (Demo Mix)

Crystal (Demo Mix) was released on 19 May 2014 on Mark Reeder’s Collaborator compilation for Factory Benelux. The underlying version had originally been produced in 1997 and belongs to Corvin Dalek’s early fully developed productions.

The original instrumental was later reworked in Berlin with Mark Reeder. Bernard Sumner contributed vocal recordings, which were incorporated into the existing instrumental version. A demo version was completed on this basis and approved by Sumner.

The early version was not released at the time. At the request of London Records, it was held back, while a newly produced version of Crystal was subsequently released under the New Order name. The original Dalek/Reeder version initially remained unreleased and was eventually issued in 2014 as Crystal (Demo Mix) on Collaborator.
