New Order – Krafty (Corvin Dalek Remix) [Demo]
In 2005, I worked on Krafty, a track by New Order that became a pivotal project in my career. The remix was built using vocal stems provided by Bernard Sumner, shared through Mark Reeder, my collaborator and mentor at the time. It was a moment shaped by challenges, creativity, and the search for a new direction.
The Remix Process Behind New Order – Krafty
The opportunity to remix Krafty came during a period of transition for me, both personally and professionally. The music industry had begun to feel restrictive, and my creative freedom was diminishing. Despite these obstacles, the chance to work on such an iconic track sparked a glimmer of inspiration. My studio was in the process of transitioning from analog to digital, which presented both opportunities and difficulties. Adapting to this new setup, I struggled to bring my ideas for the remix to life. Mark Reeder and I collaborated closely in the studio, but something about the process felt disconnected. The final version lacked the cohesion needed for it to be accepted by London Records.
Lessons From the New Order – Krafty Remix
Though the remix didn’t reach the audience I had hoped for, Krafty became a turning point. During this project, I realized the importance of taking creative control. In a conversation with Mark Reeder, I encouraged him to stop channeling his ideas solely into others’ work and to focus on creating his own music. This advice resonated deeply with both of us and marked the start of a new chapter.
Mark went on to produce music with Micha Adam, leading to groundbreaking remixes for artists such as Depeche Mode, Yello, and New Order themselves. As for me, the experience with Krafty pushed me to redefine my own path in music and explore new creative territories.
Krafty as a Catalyst for Change
The New Order – Krafty remix symbolizes the need to embrace change and seek new opportunities, even in the face of setbacks. For me, it represented the end of a difficult period and the beginning of a journey toward greater creative independence. Today, I look back at Krafty not as a failure, but as a key moment of growth. It taught me the value of persistence and the importance of taking ownership of my work.
