Der Klang Der Familie (Wet & Hard Rewix) /3 Phase Featuring Dr. Motte/
“Der Klang Der Familie” holds a legendary place in techno history, and being entrusted to rework this masterpiece was a defining moment in my career. In 2002, as the Loveparade reached its zenith, Mark Reeder initiated a collaboration with Dave Conway of Silver Planet to breathe new life into iconic tracks. Among them was this remix project – a celebration of Berlin’s legacy and the Wet&Hard movement. Released on Silver Planet Recordings, the Wet & Hard Rewix was crafted specifically for the Loveparade. Before its official release, a dubplate was delivered directly to Dr. Motte, who spun it during his iconic set at the Stern. Seeing my remix resonate on the global stage, at the heart of techno’s most celebrated festival, was an unforgettable affirmation of my work.
Natural Klang
Back at my Narodni Podník 4 home studio, I envisioned a remix that leaned deeper into natural, earthy rhythms. Inspired by organic textures, I wove bongos and layered them with a powerful, extended intro co-produced with Mark Reeder. It channeled the percussive energy of Da Hool’s “Eichelrück” while infusing the sound with Wet&Hard’s characteristic boldness – raw, rhythmic, and driving. The result was a track that felt alive – its grooves and wooden percussive elements foreshadowing the Latino-influenced inspirations that would later shape my music during my travels in Colombia.
An Unforgettable Loveparade
The remix debuted during one of the most memorable Loveparades. Our float featured an incredible lineup, including Mijk van Dijk, Namito, Alex Flatner, Roberto Ingram, Cybersecrecy, and James Holden. The energy was euphoric, though the ear-shattering volume taught us the importance of ear protection the hard way. This was a day and night filled with celebration, music, and unity – techno at its peak. “Der Klang Der Familie (Wet & Hard Rewix)” became a defining anthem for that event and remains a testament to the power of collaboration and the timelessness of Berlin’s techno heritage.
