Assorted: Stadtansichten
Stadtansichten was produced in collaboration with Mark Reeder and released in the lead-up to Berlin’s Loveparade 1999. The compilation was conceived as both a musical and conceptual response to the city’s transformation at the end of the decade and millennium, where techno, architecture, and mass tourism intersected. In February 1999, we visited the emerging construction sites at Potsdamer Platz. The unfinished high-rises and the early structure of the Sony Center formed a surreal skyline – monumental, synthetic, and unresolved. It was in this setting that the idea for Stadtansichten took form: an album oriented toward the Loveparade audience, but defined by the raw city itself.
The compilation was framed as a reflection of Berlin in motion. The music combined trance, techno with celebratory transitions. The accompanying CD inlay featured our reimagined Berlin city map, with street names replaced by artists, DJs, and figures from the scene. The map was intended not as satire, but as coded tribute. Stadtansichten became a formal marker of my collaboration with Mark Reeder. It functioned as a temporary document, anchored in Loveparade culture.
