Freakin’ Mother Father (Tech My Brick Remix)

The Production: From Idea to Release
We recorded Freakin’ Mother Father in January 2003 at the Narodni Podník Studio in Charlottenburg, while snow blanketed Berlin and the icy cold seemed to freeze the city in place. The recordings themselves were inspired by ideas that had emerged during a tour in spring 2002. The track eventually became part of my album I Am a Dalek, developed in close collaboration with Mark Reeder. The concept was clear: a fusion of Wet&Hard and Rock, which we humorously dubbed “Rock’n’Hard.” The bassline came directly from my bass guitar, and Mark contributed the idea for a short break that momentarily interrupts the track’s relentless drive. That brief moment – featuring Mark’s vocal riff – was like a whale surfacing for air before plunging back into the depths.

Live Performances: A Trip with a Sense of Humor
I rarely played the original version of Freakin’ Mother Father, as I created a remix tailored for LaLa Land. But whenever I did play the original, it became a standout moment in the set. I’ll never forget playing it in a club in Novi Sad, where the crowd went wild as the track dropped. Mark was there to capture the scene on film, which later became part of the visual narrative for my album.

Freakin’ Mother Father – A Hypnotic Techno Rebirth
Freakin’ Mother Father returns with a bold new twist – the Tech My Brick Remix, a raw and hypnotic reimagining that takes the track into deeper, darker techno territory. This remix brings together the driving monotony and short, looping structures reminiscent of my earlier work on Pornoground, creating a powerful and immersive soundscape. Produced in late 2024, this remix began as the final track of the never-completed album project that shared the same name. Instead of letting it fade into obscurity, I reworked it as a standalone, unreleased track to highlight its unique energy and importance in my evolving sound. Now featured exclusively on my Dalek_Unreleased Bandcamp, this release is a cornerstone of my newly restructured website and blog – a pivotal piece in telling my ongoing story as an artist.
