Essential Tunes January 2025 – Return to the Techno Depths

After a year-long creative pause, Dalek Sessions #12 marks my return to the decks with a raw, hypnotic, and sci-fi-infused techno move. This mix is a reflection of my recent explorations in sound, blending freshy tracks from January 2025 with inspirations that have shaped my sound the last year.

Since stepping back from club performances, I’ve found a new rhythm in curating these sessions – a few hours of escape into the music space, navigating through highs and lows with a touch of that classic storytelling vibe. In August of last year, I started producing techno again, experimenting with new processors and tape plugins that added a distinct texture to my sound. It’s been a journey – whether it ends back in the clubs remains to be seen. But for now, I’m enjoying steering this old pirate ship through the underwater world of techno. Sometimes, it feels like the ghosts of dark pirate skulls are right there with me,. celebrating the night on the dock. Creepy? Maybe. But I’m here to pull out the treasures and send the sound soaring into the sphere.

The Sound of Now and Then

This mix features tracks from my weekly selections, blending new raw sounds with older tracks that form the backbone of the set. Artists like Alarico’s raw textures, Lekebusch’s hypnotic layers, and Vilchezz’s deep grooves inspired the flow, while REFORMIST brings a bold, speedy discotech vibe that adds a refreshing twist. And yes, I had a lot of fun mixing this one. Though, somewhere in the middle, I totally messed up the tempo – so, apologies for that!

Two of my own tracks are featured in this mix, both finished in early January. They represent the rawer side of my recent experiments but already fit nicely into the groove. They might even see an official release soon.
